How to maintain your gadgets clean

August 5, 2021 - ,

For a start, obviously, cleaning is the way to get rid of dirt, dust and disinfect your house from the bacterias living on a majority of surfaces in our living space. Having the habit of carefully cleaning our bookshelves, mopping floors with strong detergents, and spending a lot of time to reach the proper white color on our bathroom facilities is something any housewife would kill for. But often we forget about some important tools we use on a daily basis and which are a magnet for viruses and bacterias – our gadgets.

In this article, we’ll talk about electronic devices. We carry them with us to all possible places, hold them in our hands even when they are not 100% clean and covid-free and after a long day out we bring our devices back to our houses, put them next to the bed, and until the morning it stays in the same state. The next day we take them to the office or college and the whole cycle repeats once again. Meanwhile, one crucial thing is missing, we tend to forget to clean them. This happens to all of us, so let’s consider some ways to take care of our digital devices and consider some tips for keeping them clean.

This topic became exceptionally sensitive right after the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic. All of us started to pay much more attention to different sanitation practices in order to avoid the disease and of course, keeping our gadgets clean is one of them.

The first and most obvious thing to do is to wipe down your phone. It stays with us everywhere, from bathrooms to buses to kitchens and restaurants. This makes our phone one of the most frequently touched surfaces during the day. It may seem like that there is nothing difficult at all in cleaning the phone, but there are more details than you could expect. For example, it is not always a good idea to use disinfecting wipes for the screen of your device. Because they can easily destroy the oleophobic coating that prevents the appearance of fingerprint smudges. You should take this risk into account and better check the recommendations of the manufacturer on their official website.

Unexpectedly, manufacturers of mobile devices recommend cleaning your smartphones with regular or sugar soap instead of spirit napkins. The reason is simple – wipes do not remove all germs and bacteria from the surface. But again, to avoid unpleasant consequences after wiping your phone, check recommendations regarding using your device.

When it comes to your laptop, things can be more complex. Surely, you can use wipes as well, but to remove small particles of dust on the keyboard it is better to utilize compressed air. In fact, plain wet wipes will not help you to get rid of all germs living on its surface, which is the main goal. To deal with this it’s better to buy a UV sanitizer. This is a relatively small device, which you can easily store in your house. The technology utilizes UV-C light which can disinfect any item from microorganisms in just a few minutes. As the main advantage of this device, we should mention its ability to remove all germs without using any chemicals. This is a nice feature, as above all it can exclude the appearance of any allergic reaction in people around due to the absence of chemical detergents in the process. But of course, this solution is a bit more expensive than using all of the others mentioned before.

In conclusion, we would like to mention that it is not a good idea to use strong detergents like window cleaners, household cleaners, aerosol sprays, etc. Also, you should avoid abrasive cloths and materials, such as paper towels. The simple wisdom is that you should avoid anything that possibly can damage your device.
